Key Mediterranean Climate Records in Southern France

This contribution is focused on the identification and the selection of a set of long and high-quality climate records for South France, in support of an enhanced detection, prediction and adaptation to climate change and its impacts. Here we start with a short description of the evolution of the French meteorological network, and then we discuss the selection procedures of the stations. We conclude the paper with the presentation of the recovery of Nice climate records, along with the discussion of the difficulty to build reliable long-climate records going back in time to the 19th century.
