The present paper is an abstract of a far more detailed one which has appeared in the French language. It contains however all the most important facts relative to this Typhoon and is published in English with a view to extending its usefulness : it is rather a collection of the original documents in a form more intelligible to captains unfamiliar with the French language and Metrical system. Readers must kindly excuse any foreign turn that may have escaped a French pen.
