This is a history of weather with some unusual perspectives. The author is a scientist/engineer, keen to satisfy curiosity about historical, technical and political aspects of meteorology. The book starts with weather lore and moves on to consider how modern forecasting has evolved. There is a chapter on meteorology during WWII, and the previously unreported role of Ireland in the 'Weather War.' The final chapters are concerned with sondes, tephigrams and weather models; all essential elements for an accurate forecast.
