Résumé
It has been called the most important weather forecast in history, and, without a doubt, the operational weather support for the Allied invasion of the coast of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944—otherwise known as D-Day—proved to be one of the most critical elements of this major turning point in World War II. The D-Day invasion marked the beginning of Operation Overlord, a major assault on German-occupied France by British, American, and Canadian forces that led to the liberation of western Europe and, ultimately, the surrender of Germany.
