Hag-elsafi, Sulafa ; El-Tayib, Manahil
A spatial and statistical analysis of annual rainfall in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the period 1979-2008 was performed. The statistical analysis showed that annual rainfall was quite variable, ranging from 0 to 567.1mm (at the Abha station). The annual rainfall amount showed extreme variation among stations, ranging from 79.5 to 479.7mm; Levene and F tests showed heterogeneity among meteorological stations, with significant differences in average rainfall. Spatial analysis revealed no clear pattern in the distribution of rainfall, although the majority of areas received rainfall of <150mm yr-1, and rainfall amounts were high in the southwestern region of the country.
