Weathering a century : a long and happy life
Nagler, Kenneth M.
From being knocked unconscious as an infant when lightning struck his house to his many years as a meteorologist and world traveler, weather has played an important role in Kenneth Nagler's amazing life.Ken was born in 1920 and is still vibrantly alive almost a century later. He was married for more than 70 years, is close to his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, and still plants flowers and sees to the needs of his poodle, box turtles, and koi. He served in the Navy during the final years of World War II. During his fascinating career in meteorology, he was involved in researching the structure of the earth's jet stream, was critically involved in the testing of nuclear weapon fallout patterns, and played a pivotal role in the launches and landings of each of the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab space missions! Ken has been a dog trainer, dog club instructor, dog show judge, and homing pigeon competition winner. He has traveled to almost all of the United States and to more than 25 foreign countries. He has authored a number of scholarly articles, several stories and poems published in dog and travel magazines, and a book of short stories and verse. How could one person fit all of that into a single lifetime? Weathering for a Century includes many chronicles and anecdotes as Ken recounts his life so far.
(4ème de couverture)
