A heated snowgauge was installed at Rothera in 2008 and continues to be in operation at the present time. Its measurements have been used to estimate annual snowfall at Rothera, and this was found to be, on average, about 550mm of water equivalent. Such measurements are still very rare in Antarctica, but are vital to help our understanding of climate change. </p>
