In February 2020, a series of three storms affected the coasts of the English Channel over a period of just 8 days. There were floods due to heavy rainfall in South Devon and as a result of waves breaking at high tide on the coasts of the Channel Islands. This was an unusually prolonged period of severe weather, including spells of gale-force winds. This paper examines the causes of this severe weather and describes some local effects.</p>
