Severe weather event on 3 March 2015 in Msalala District, Tanzania
Igenge, Edwin M.
This study examines the severe weather event on 3 March 2015 in Msalala District, where surface convergence and enhanced atmospheric instability played a crucial role in storm development. Evaluation of numerical weather models revealed variations in accuracy, with the Global Forecast System (GFS) model performing better at predicting observed conditions than other models. These findings highlight the need for improved observational data networks in regions like Tanzania to enhance the understanding of localised severe weather events. High-resolution data shows potential for improving forecast accuracy, strengthening early warning systems and enhancing preparedness for extreme weather events.</p>
